First and foremost - I am more than Tariq Bokhari’s wife. I am a Christian, mother of 3 amazing children, pro America, pro parental choice, pro police, pro school choice, champion for public schools who is ready to get to work in Raleigh for Charlotte.

I’m one of many women that excelled in my career, but then made the decision to step away to raise a family.
 

The work I have done behind the scenes for Tariq for the last 6 years has given me an inside view of the many issues we are facing in Charlotte. Being a mother of 3 children, with different learning abilities, in the public school system has given me first hand experience of the challenges our teachers and children face.
 

I’m an active member of the CMS PTA and committed to the success of our public schools with skin in the game. 

After becoming aware of the adolescent behavioral health crisis in NC, Tariq and I went to the private sector to find a solution. As a result of this The Katie Blessing Center ,a Adolescent Behavioral Health Center, is currently under construction. I continue to be a strong advocate and work with the team to change the landscape for our NC youth in need of mental health care. 

I’m not someone who seeks the spotlight, I like to operate behind the scenes to assess the issues and find solutions. I had no intentions to run for office, but when NC House leadership asked me to consider running, I just couldn’t allow this seat to be unopposed - especially when I already know many of the issues plaguing our city and have the relationships to make things happen. 

I know this will be an uphill battle but those of you who know me, know I’m up for the challenge. 

  Every year the City of Charlotte crafts a legislative agenda and sends it to the General Assembly.

The priorities listed have little to no chance of success because there is no relationship between the leadership in Raleigh and your current Charlotte representatives.

I will release my legislative agenda in the coming weeks, which will include: 

-meaningful legislative reform for our broken criminal justice system and struggling first responders 

-a focus on making our public schools best in class while also supporting School Choice

-addressing the adolescent behavioral health epidemic

-real solutions for the challenges the of Charlotte business community faces

- a realistic transportation plan that meets Charlotte where they are and a focus on
investments in the overwhelming congestion on state-owned roads

 Many may write this off as impossible, citing it’s a Biden +21 District. My husband just won a Biden +21 District, and the precincts significantly overlap.

That means there is a willingness to look at the candidate and make the best decision regardless of party.

The safety and success of our children fuels my passion to run. If I am elected and taking time away from them at home, you better believe I am going to Raleigh to make an impact!

It is simple - my relationships with the  leadership in Raleigh WILL end in results for Mecklenburg county. They recruited me because they want to work with me.

This is about getting the job done and in this race I am the person who can do it!
