Former Marketing Director in the Manufacturing, Hospitality and Tourism industries.
Volunteer and Community Advocate for Charlotte for over 2 decades - who believes we deserve more effective representation in Raleigh.
I’m one of many women that excelled in my career, but made the decision to step away to raise a family.
For the last 11 years I have been a dedicated mother and housewife who has volunteered my time and talents for MPUMC preschool's Parent Council and now an active member of my children's public school PTA.
For the last 7 years I have worked behind the scenes helping with constituent services for many residents of
City Council District 6, which overlaps with NC House 104.
This work has given me an inside view of the many issues we are facing in Charlotte.
- Our students are struggling
-Our criminal justice system has become a revolving door
-Our children are in the midst of a mental health epidemic
-Our infrastructure and neighborhoods are being negatively impacted by the UDO
I’m not typically someone who seeks the spotlight but I am tired of seeing the same sad trends with the same
representation.
I'm ready to be the voice that fights for your family and mine!

Being a mother of 3 children, with different learning abilities in the public school system has given me first hand experience of the challenges our teachers and children face.
Approximately 50% of our children in the public school system are not proficient in Math or Reading and we have a 16% drop out rate.
We have to give our teachers and students the support they need to succeed!
Close the Literacy Gap
I am a huge proponent of the Orton-Gillingham Method. I will champion funding for the training of every NC teacher in this method to ensure at least one Certified teacher per Elementary school.
Root Cause Solutions
I believe in investing our tax dollars into root cause solutions. Putting a focus on our schools to keep our youth out of the criminal justice system.
Teacher Pay
I will champion efforts to raise our pay for teachers to meet the national average. We can not expect to recruit and retain the best unless we are paying our educators a fair wage that aligns with the importance of their roles in our community.
School Choice
Since Opportunity School Vouchers are funded from a separate budget than our Public schools, I support our tax payer's dollars following their child to the school that best fulfills their academic needs.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Bring law and order back to our city through meaningful legislative reforms in our broken criminal justice system and supporting our first responders.
The current criminal justice system is failing our first responders and our community. The rise in juvenile crime in Charlotte is not only alarming, but the nature of these crimes is shocking. Often, these young offenders are sent back to their caregivers' homes without facing any consequences.
Legislative Changes
We must reevaluate Raise the Age Legislation.
Juvenile Detention Center
We must reopen our Juvenile Detention Center to teach accountability and rehabilitate these children who have gone down the wrong path.
Judges and Magistrates Accountability
Hold our Judges and Magistrates accountable for how they hold all criminals accountable.
When our judges are setting bonds as low as $50,000 for a man who was charged with First Degree Murder and Rape, something has got to change.
First Responder Support
Our first responders need a champion to ensure our laws do not work to benefit our criminals. We must establish salaries and benefits to help us hire and retain top talent to serve our city.
MENTAL HEALTH
After being approached about the juvenile mental health epidemic in our city, my husband and I went to the private sector to find a solution. At the time there was a 400 bed shortage in NC, our emergency rooms were being overwhelmed with families desperate for help. The current facility was overrun to the point that children were in paper scrubs, sleeping on mattresses on the floor in the hallways.
This was heartbreaking and shocking to hear. Now via a network of city and state agencies as well as other civic minded individuals The Katie Blessing Center, an Adolescent Behavioral Health Center, is currently under construction. This will change the landscape of mental healthcare in the Charlotte area for our youth. I will continue to be a strong advocate to make sure no family or child is turned away from the care they deserve and need.
Common Concerns
My concerns and priorities are those shared by most families in Charlotte. We want safe streets, strong schools and
our tax dollars spent sensibly. I'm not going to Raleigh with a radical agenda.
I am going there with common sense solutions to our everyday problems.

Seat at the Table
Every year the City of Charlotte crafts a legislative agenda and sends it to the General Assembly.
The priorities listed have little to no chance of success because there is no relationship between the leadership in Raleigh and your current House representatives.
The super majority in the General Assembly is Republican led. Unfortunately, there is not one Republican representative who lives in Charlotte with a seat at the table.
This is a disservice to Charlotte.
This race boils down to having your voice heard or not. I would be honored to be
the voice for Charlotte’s families!
Motivated to Succeed
The safety and success of our children fuels my passion to run. With your trust and vote - I am going to Raleigh to work for you to make an impact!
The future of our city has too much at stake.
